The Old Home Town, Looks just the same

The Old Home Town Looks Just the Same..

ABC of Troon.  G is for GOATFELL VIEW

The home of choice for the Dogwithnobrain.

When we viewed this house, in 1998, we didn't think we'd get it, but a couple of phone calls, an offer, and it was ours and in January 1999 we moved in.

It has been the happiest of homes.

The Children grew and flourished.  They had friends, and parties, and sleepovers, and homework, and favourite tv programmes, their own rooms, secrets, and shouting and family dinners at the tables.   It's still home for them, and the door will always be open and a bed available for them. Always.  (And their friends :-))

Himself and me have been happy here.  We've laughed together, loved together, and he has always been there for me whether it's my unpredictable sobbing, or my tourettes, or just general craziness.    He's astounded me with his DIY and Repair skills, and other times had me on my knees laughing with them.

We've loved pets and lost pets, planted stuff, and grew stuff, killed stuff, nourished stuff.

We've all bounced and slept on the trampoline in the garden, we've had bbqs, and late night star watching sessions. We've played hide and seek in the dark, and laughed til my pingpong incontinence kicks in.  Himself has tolerated me hanging lights, bunting, ladybirds, and bees from the trees.

We've got the loveliest of neighbours... even the type who help you push your car out of an upward sloping drive at 8am in the morning kind of neighbours.   (Thank you so much you wonderful being)

We've watched upwards of 20 kids grown from between ages 5 and 10 to adulthood and some of them start families of their own, cheered when our neighbour's kids have succeeded, as they have cheered on ours.

And no.. I can't see Goatfell from the house.... I can see the far south end of Arran - I did check that this morning before I left the house.

Here's to many more years of happy days in Goatfell View.

Sunday Stealing

Would you rather be stuck on an island alone or with someone who talks incessantly?  On my own - I have sufficient voices in my head to keep myself company without the pain of someone else's opinions.

Would you rather be too hot or too cold? Cold.  Heat makes me sleep.   I work beside two folk who are very cold blooded, and insist of having hot office all the time. I bought a USB fan to cope with them.

Would you rather have a cook or a maid?   A cook - that's what I've got just now .... I do the cleaning, he does the cooking :-)   I'm an awful cook.

Would you rather be the youngest or the oldest sibling?   I am the youngest sibling, and it isn't a good place to be.

Would you rather get rich through hard work or through winning the lottery?   A little mixture of both.

Would you rather have a 10-hour dinner with a headstrong politician from an opposing party, or attend a 10-hour concert for a music group you detest?   A ten hour concert for music i detest.  Politician's crap makes my mentally ill. True that.  Last years Independence Referendum sent me over the edge.

Would you rather be an Olympic gold medalist or a Nobel Peace Prize winner?   Nobel peace prize winner.  I'm crap at sports.

Would you rather have a desk job or an outdoor job?   I have a desk  job, I wander outside every so often, so it is almost like the best of both worlds.

Would you rather live at the top of a tall NYC apartment building or at the top of a mountain?    Ooh oooh now I'm torn.. Now I'm really torn. A NYC Apartment, because it would have a lift, and access to EVERYTHING in the world I could possibly need, including an airport to get me to the mountain. That being said = I adore the mountains.  From the bottom, standing looking up at their gorgeousness.

Would you rather have Rambo or The Terminator on your side?   Terminator. I can't understand a bloody word Sylvester Stallone says.

Would you rather be proposed to in private or in front of family and friends?   In private. That is a private, private thing between two people.

Would you rather have to sew all your clothes or grow your own food?   Oooh, oooh, Again, torn. Very, very torn. I have a sewing machine, but I am very much a beginner, I would Love to make my own clothes.  We have a garden, we love growing things - This year - loads of apples; my husband has made chutney, apple pies and crumbles, and we are waiting on the Cider.  We have had bramble jelly, and bramble and apple pies - I'm thinking Bramble Vodka next year.   We didn't have much success with our Plums, or our Strawberries, or Cabbages or Cauliflowers this year, but they started well.  Maybe we could do both.

Would you rather hear the good news or the bad news first?   Bad news, and then use the good news to recover.

Would you rather be your own boss or work for someone else?    Someone else. Let them take the risks, and let them be totally impressed by me.

Would you rather have nosy neighbors or noisy neighbors?  nosy. hmm. am I torn.  When we moved our neighbours had a party at least once a month. It was horrific.  Singing badly on Karaoke at until 3 am.   In another house we lived, a neighbour would stand on a bucket outside our window to look in.  She tried to have me arrested for "indecent exposure"  - the police were mortified when I told them I had been standing in my living room, and she had been standing on a box outside my window.

Would you rather be on a survival reality show or dating game show? Survival reality show, so long as it didn't involve eating bugs.

Would you rather be too busy or be bored?   Busy , busy busy

Would you rather watch the big game at home or live at the stadium?    At home.  The view isn't as good from the stadium

Would you rather spend the day with your favorite athlete or you favorite movie star?  Hmm, I don't have a favourite athlete. Have you mistaken me for someone who moves much?

Would you rather live where it is constantly winter or where it is constantly summer?  Ohoooh... I like it fine where i am. .  cool summers, and baltic winters :-)

Sunday Stealing

Cookie Meme

Stolen from: Love me some surveys

Are any of your friendships on a fine line?   Nah.  All Friendships should be at the point of being able to say what you want, when you want, offence being taken and given, and no bitterness remaining.

Have you ever witnessed a birth?  Witnessed a birth?  I did it twice.  Jesus H Christ.  I pity anyone who was in the room with me.  (that would be himself..... both times) ha ha ha I am a BAD BIRTH Giver.

Where’s your favorite place to be when you feel depressed?   By the sea.  By the waves.   Washes all your blues away.

Are you currently looking forward to tomorrow?  The Dentist!  Am trying reverse psychology.  If I say I'm looking forward to it, maybe I will.

Have you gone to a coffee shop within the past week? [i.e. Starbucks] No. We don't have any starbucks/ Costs / Nico in our wee toon.  We are currently waiting on one being built, but so far, they haven't even laid the foundations, only put up a fence.   And I am pretty upset about that.

Would you like to be able to read thoughts?  I can :-)

Do certain swear words just roll off your tongue?   Yes, I am a terrible swearer, I swear like a Sailor.  Much to the horror of my Daughter who never lets a swear word pass her lips, apart from "jobbies"

Are you often the last one to understand a joke?  I am often the last one to understand the truth too.

Can experience be gained just by reading?  Most definitely.  Your mind expands by absorbing information.

Does playing the guitar make a person more attractive?  Oh yes. of course.  -Note to self Get Guitar back out of case.

Have you ever slept in a tent, indoors or out? Yes, yes, yes, often, and I do recommend it highly.  Tent in the garden, tent in a field, tent in a camping park.  Wonderful thing.

What does your hair look like at the moment?  Wet.  I'm just out the shower.  And I'm just about to go out for a walk, and it's raining, so I'm not drying it just to get it wet again :-)

Are you mad right now?  I was born mad.  Sad, but true. But it does make for an interesting life for my husband :-)

Who did you spend your summer with last year?  This year?  Last Year?  Every year for the past upteen.  Himself.  I do love his company.

Did you eat a cookie today?  No I did not.  :-)  It's only 1344. I'm only out of bed an hour.... not time for cookie... Might have one when I'm out for a walk.

Sunday Stealing

From Love me Some Surveys  For Sunday Stealing

Is there anyone else in the room with you atm? What are they doing?  Yar, my other half.  He has just gotten up to make me a cuppa tea :-)

Do you show your teeth when you smile, or do you prefer smiling with your lips closed?   I smile with my teeth. But I have a wonky overbite, and people think I am doing a kid-on smile.  I like smiling. Smiling is good.

Would you rather be told the truth, even if it isn’t what you want to hear?  Yes, always. Except "You're a fat arse".   I hate lies.

What is something that you plan to buy, as soon as you’ve saved up the money for it?  Double glazing, new kitchen, trip to America, trip to Santorini in Greece.   Pleasurable things.

Do you play Sudoku?   No. I have no brain.  See photo above.  I prefer word Searches.  My Daughter is immense at Suduko.   Is very, very clever.

Have you ever had a migraine?   Oh god, yes. I suffered horrifically from Migraines.  At least once or twice a month. And then I discovered that medication I had been taking for something else, had actually been causing it. Since I stopped taking that medication I have had two.  Only two in a whole year.

What was the last book you read for pleasure?  Midwinter of the Spirit by Phil Rickman, and The Alchemist by Paolo Coehlo. ( I read that one over and over) and The Sacred Art of Stealing by Christopher Brookmyre.  I have several books on the go at once :-)

Who is the last person you texted?   My mate K.  we have an on-going textual relationship at the weekend.

How close is your family?   My little family unit, of four of us, is very close.  My extended family  - not so much.   But even then, my little family unit - One is 75 miles away, one is 3500 miles away, but I still consider them close :-)

Is there anything too serious to be joked about?   Nothing.  I cannot stand political correctness.   Last week, there was a woman who was suing, heck, the whole work for telling a joke about a Sikh.   She wanted the joke banned.  The crazy stupid thing was, I had never heard the joke told as about a Sikh, I've heard it told about Irish, Scottish, Glaswegians, Canadians, Australians, but never a Sikh. I don't think it was even that funny.   But she  was making it a bigger deal than it was.  Arse.

Do you like to understand and have good knowledge of things?  I do. But there are some things I don't understand.  Like, electronics.   I work in an electronic manufacturer and designer. I have NO IDEA WHAT they do. ha ha ha. When someone phones and asks, I have to ALWAYS pass them to someone else.   They have tried to explain it to me, but my head puts up barriers.

How much time do you take to get ready in the morning?   thirty minutes.   No more no less.

Sunday Stealing

25 Fun Meme -From Sunday Stealing

Stolen from: My Random Randomness

1. If you were trapped in a room with the person who asked this for 24 hours, what would you do? The answer cannot be romantic or sexual.   This confuses me somewhat... Which person?  Bud ?  Alli's from Randomness?   What would I do with anyone trapped in a room for 24 hours... probably ask them if I could borrow their lap so that I could sleep.   I like sleeping, and if I was trapped - no better way to pass the time than sleeping.

2. If you could learn any language instantly, what would it be?  Spanish, no French, no Greek, No Spanish, No French, No Greek.  I'd like to speak all these languagses equally, can't decided which one I would like to be competent in immediately - I did think I was quite good at French, but after our holiday in France, I know that I'm not.  Even the best English speaking French couldn't understand me.

3. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?  Mmmm Tough choice.  I could go Dreamy and say "The Alchemist by Paolo Coehlo" , or I could go entertaining and though provoking, "All Fun and Games Until somebody looses an eye", by Christopher Brookmyre.

4. Favorite song lyric?   And I'll be loving you, Always....     Hold Me now... Last night when you were crying, i felt that I was dying.   True love will never allow it...With or without you....   You can tell my mood today eh?

5. Favorite album?   Love, Aztec Camera

6. Which time of day would you say is best for you work-wise?   Between 11 and 3.  I'm waking up before, and settling down for the evening after.

7. Favorite city that you’ve visited?  Edinburgh. Always. I love Edinburgh.

8. Favorite city that you haven’t visited? This question is an oxymoron.  How can it be a favourite city, if I haven't visited it?  Nonsense.  You have favourites because you experience them, if I haven't experienced it, I can't favourite it.   I think I might like Moscow, but I wouldn't say it is my favourite city, because I've never been there.

9. If you could donate $10,000 to charity, what charity would you pick?  One that loves animals.  Pandas, dogs, cats.   If I wasn't married I would be cat / dog lady.

10. What is one book you wish you could get all your friends to read?  See the two books above.  I'd read them forever, and I wish everyone else would.

16. If you could create one thing, what would it be?  A beautiful piece of yarn work.  I crochet and knit furiously, but it's all very second rate.

18. If you were to write an autobiography, what would you title it?  Diazepam Daze.  See, I didn't even have to think - already in the process.

19. If you were to have a band, what would you call it?  Diazepam Daze.  Why waste it, I'll never publish.

20. What is your favorite card/board game?  Scrabble. I adore Scrabble.  I have to blackmail my husband to play with me.  And I cheat.

21. What was the first IM service you used? Who was the first person you talked to on it?  AOL Chat.  Jemimi, a French Chap called Eric.   You just used to browse and find people and chat. I practised my poor french on him before my first french holiday.  He agreed it was bad, but said it was understandable.   It must have gotten worse.

22. If you could give a friendly hug to any one person, who would it be? Cannot be your romantic/sexual partner if you have one.  I am happy to hug anyone, except if they look particularly smelly, or dirty. I'm not OCD, but once, I hugged someone I had spoken to on  line and on telephone often, and felt drawn to hug them tight (despite how they looked),  I felt like I needed a shower for ages after.

I'd like to be really good at knitting,  I'm seriously not, but I do love the feel of yarn between my fingers and NO that isn't sexual or romantic.

Leave me sitting with someone for too long, and I i become that accent.   When I went to view my first flat as a wee premie student in Edinburgh, after speaking with the landlady for a couple of minutes (yes, minutes), she said "when did you leave Edinburgh , your accent is still so strong).  Then, there were the soldiers I entertained one night in my deep N'rn Irlnd" brogue' then I met them three weeks later and they wanted to introduce this brilliant Irish lass to their mates.  I was completely gobsmacked.  The real accents -Western Scottish, with a lilt of Lancashire from my husband.

It's all in the breathing

I had a hysterectomy 12 years ago (I was very young... but had had my family).

My hysterectomy was to try and rid me of the evil that is Endometriosis.

I suffered with Endo for a long, long time.  I first went to the Doctor in 1986, because sex with my then current boyfriend (and subsequently my husband - Yay), was really painful.  Really , really painful.  The doctor decided it was Constipation, stuck her finger right up my arse, wiggled it around and said "Maybe".

That examination put me off going back for a long time.   It also put me off sex for quite some time too.

Eventually I returned to the Doctors, around 8 years later and this time, I had IBS.  I drank Fibregel every day, twice a day. To this day, I still hate the taste of Fibre, and Orange.

The pain did not diminish.  It increased.  Monthlies expanded.  I had Monthlies all the time.    I walked like a baby in terry toweling nappies, because basically that's what was happening.

The pain grew in area - not only was it restricted to my womb and lower back and cervix. It started to move down my legs.  Performing Number 2's at the wrong time of the month or day, would result in me having to lie down, sedate myself and recover from the pain.  The flow would make me drop to my knees.

Eventually I was referred for a Laparoscopy.

It didn't find anything.

The doctor suggested a hysterectomy simply as a last resort.

When I went into hospital, I think they considered that I was having a hysterectomy to "stop the inconvenience of periods".

When I woke up from surgery, the doctor apologised to me.

I did have Endo - it was hidden from the front view; hence no result with the laparoscopy.  My bladder, and ovaries, and cervix, and womb were tightly bound together with the endo scar tissue.  They had to cut everything out and stitch me back up again.

They scraped away what they could of the Endo, but as is the way, they couldn't remove it all.  My cervix was too tightly welded for them to remove it, so not only am I without Womb - I still have to undergo smears.

The pain subsided.  It hasn't left completely, and it is impacted by what I eat. I think because my bowel was affected, some foods digest differently and struggle to move thru an adapted bowel.  Depending on what I have eaten, No 2s can still cause me gross pain.

Like today.

Yesterday I did something which made me howl in pain on the loo.

I had to lay down for a good while after to recover from the shock of the pain.

It's never going to go - i just have to learn to deal with the pain as best I can without resorted to sedating myself.

Sunday Stealing....

Really Random Meme

Stolen from: Love me some surveys

Do you believe that Walt Disney is really frozen?    of course; of all the people in the world who would be so megalomaniac that he would want to come back when it was possible to re-ignite his brain, he would be the one.  He invented worlds, on earth.  He created new races.   And think about the question... "FROZEN", that's one of his too!

Do you believe its easy to forgive and forget?   I love to proclaim that I do, but I don't; which is why I am in therapy.  I remember every last evil thing that people have said to me, and the eat away at my mind and I like to say to myself, "no no no it doesn't bother me, I'm bigger than that... I can let it go .... " but secretly I am holding all these things too me and plotting my revenge.

When you feel like running away from it all who do you call?  Ghostbusters?  ha ha ha. No, but that is the standard answer to "Who do you call".   I call my himself.   My love.  My other half. The one who sorts out all the problems.   I betcha he wishes I wasn't so dependent.

Is there anyone who knows your entire life story?   Yip  same answer as that one just above.

Have you had to have stitches at all in the last year?   Nope.  Thankfully.  Last time I had stitches.... was my hysterectomy.  And I think they were staples.  Time before that, it was on my face, when I had some plastic surgery. :-)

Which is coming next: Christmas or your birthday?  Christmas!

Have you ever been a clown for Halloween?   No.  Although Clowns are scary, and perfectly apt for Halloween, they scare me too much.  To see one on the other side of a mirror, would be just too much for me. And I might explode.

What time did you go to bed last night?  Earlier than the night before.   It was about 2 am the night before; I think maybe 11?   Not 100% sure, because I was still suffering from the over indulgence which kept me up the night before.

When did you get up this morning?   1030 am.  :-)

When was the last time it rained?  Thursday night...

Are your finger nails painted at the moment?   Nope, and they are bitten this week too.

Do you ever go hunting/fishing?    Oft no. I can't kill things.  Well I throw snails over the garden wall.  Is that huntin?

Did you have an imaginary friend as a child?   No, but I have imaginary friends as an Adult.   The voices in my head sometimes escape and visualize beside me.  That always makes for an interesting drive home.

Which parent do you look most like?   My dad.  I am my dad, in all respects, except for the male parts.

Do you have any friends who are famous?  No, I don't think so.  I have .... met famous people on occasion but I tihink meeting me, was probably the catalyst to them not being friends with me :-)

Do you use eBay to buy or sell?   Both....but not for a while for either, because I keep forgetting my password.

Is music a daily part of your life? Yes,  I love listening to songs, music can totally change my mood - which is important when I am a bit bipolar.

Is your self esteem high or low?   Right now, am pretty confident in myself.  Happy, contented, and delighted to be alive :-)
